1991 - 1992 - Khoreia and Oenophilias
Khoreia 2 - 92 x 73 cm - huile sur toile -1991
The symbolic role of colour, material and gesture, the concision of the purpose, the technical rigour related to the Ancients, the freedom of framing, expression and themes make Nicolas Blin a painter who allies pictorial tradition with contemporary creation, as in the gesture of synthesizing a bare essential, wherein performs the complexity of human relationships.
In October 1991, the Rolf Wahl gallery presented a few paintings
about dance and show (Khoreia and Perikhoreia), but also presented was
the first Oenophilia that approached the themes of wine and togetherness.
Perikhoreia 2 - 50 x 50 cm - huile sur toile -1991 - collection particulière
This work is based on
the principle of the composite image: inside a figurative reading, an abstract
non-figuration can create an imposed direction, way and meaning and, at certain
stages, complementary and contradictory significance. The reader of the painting
has to choose between the many possible interpretations.
Oenophilie 1 - 100 x 100 cm - huile sur toile -1990 - collection particulière - Stockholm
Since
then, Nicolas Blin has worked as a figurative as well as a non-figurative painter,
in order to evoke ambiences where the human presence prevails. Even if the figurative
side of the work is not descriptive but merely allusive, it is, in its extreme
accuracy, enslaved to one unique goal : to suggest.
